Why your web designer needs more than just stock photos from you

Have you ever wondered what to do with those great branding photos that you got done? Or how to use them to make the best first impression?

This week I’m handing the blog over to Business Visibility Strategist & Photographer Bonnie Dickson, who knows the answers to those questions and much more.  She provides a customized visibility strategy, to help business owners learn exactly when, how, and where to use their images, so that they have that coveted strong first impression online.  And Bonnie provides an actionable checklist for them to do that.

It’s great to e-meet you, I'm Bonnie Dickson, a Business Visibility Strategist & Photographer.

Too many times I've heard from business owners that they "don't know what to do with their business images", "when do they use them?", "Where do they use them?".  Sadly their images live in the deep dark depths of their hard drive and never see the light of day or their ideal customer's computer screen.

I provide business owners with the knowledge and actionable steps to use their beautiful business images in order to have a strong digital first impression online and convert Google searches into potential customers.  And hey, if they don't already have photos to use, then I'm happy to take them.

No, I’m not just another photographer that can take pretty pictures.  I’m the visibility strategist that you didn’t know you needed.  Don’t keep your business hidden on your hard drive, let’s put those photos to good use and get your business seen!

Photos are the icing on the cake when it comes to web design.

I love collaborating with and supporting Web Designers and developers with their client projects, and they often need my help with the visuals, because here is what happens:

The Web Designer works with the business owner to create a functioning and beautiful website, full of excellent copy (the messaging and words on the site), and a fun user experience.

To complete the website design the developer asks the client to send them photos of their business to use on the website, but then something terrible happens… the business owner gives the designer a folder containing dark, blurry cell phone pictures taken 2-5 years ago and it completely degrades the quality level of the website, negating all of the hard work that the developer has done, annnnnd leaves the business owner looking unprofessional to their potential customer when they see the blurry or dark photos on the website.

So to avoid that from happening, too often business owners will send generic stock photography instead.  Or worse, they will send an image that they simply Google searched and “saved” from the internet (that opens an entire can of copyright  infringement issues, but that’s for a different blog post).

Instead of generic stock photography, using images of yourself and your business on your website and in your marketing material is a fantastic way to connect with and create a strong first impression with potential customers.

Here are some reasons why:

People relate to people.

When you use images of yourself and your team in your website & marketing materials, it can help customers feel more comfortable doing business with you.  They can see the faces behind the business and know that there are real people working hard to meet their needs. This helps to create a personal connection and build trust, making it more likely that customers will choose to do business with you.

Authenticity is key.

Customers appreciate businesses that are authentic and genuine. Using stock images can make it difficult to convey this authenticity, but using images of yourself and your team can help customers see that your business is real and that you genuinely care about your customers.

Stand out from the crowd.

Using stock images can make your business look like every other business out there. But when you use images of yourself and your team, you can differentiate yourself from the competition and show customers what makes your business unique.

Reinforce your brand.

Your brand is about more than just your logo or your tagline. It's about the values and personality of your business. When you use images of yourself and your team, you can reinforce your brand and show customers what your business is all about.

Using images of yourself and your business on your website & marketing materials can help you build trust, convey authenticity, make a personal connection with customers, stand out from the competition, and reinforce your brand. So next time you're thinking about using stock images on your website, consider using an image of yourself or your team instead!

Have you been using generic stock images on your website, or haven’t had a photo session of you & your business in the last 2 years?  No problem, I’ve got your back.  Let’s connect for a complimentary call to discuss your photography & images needs.  I’m here to help.  https://calendly.com/bdphoto/15-min-chat-bdp
