7 reasons I choose Squarespace Websites for my clients
I’ve worked (and still work) on a lot of different kinds of websites from HTML to WordPress, but Squarespace is my go-to platform for my clients (and myself).
Why? Here are 7 important reasons that Squarespace is my website platform of choice.
1 - It’s simple to use and easy to maintain
A website is never completely finished. Sure, I finish the design, but once I hand it off to my clients there are still changes that can (and should) be made over time to keep it updated. You might need to change some text, images or even your pricing to keep everything fresh and current. You may also want write some blogs (great for SEO).
Squarespace makes it easy for my clients to do these edits for themselves, which is perfect for the small businesses I serve. Squarespace has a simple drag and drop interface that allows clients to see their changes as they make them (as opposed to flipping back and forth from the editor to the design on WordPress).
To make it even easier, I also supply each of my clients with a personalized manual that teaches them step by step, how to make changes. They can even book a face to face tutorial with me if they want more help!
2 - It’s an all-in-one platform
Do you want to start a blog? Need an online store? Want to know how your website is doing?
Blogs, e-commerce stores, analytics and more are built in to Squarespace. You don’t need to add a bunch of widgets or plugins that may or may not work well together.
Your hosting, domain & templates are all in one place as well, so you don’t have to manage a bunch of different logins and platforms just for one website.
Squarespace also supports a wide range of 3rd party integrations used by many small businesses, such as MailChimp, Google workspace (formerly G Suite), QuickBooks, and embedded videos. It makes it easy to use these tools with just a couple of clicks.
3 - It’s mobile optimized
Squarespace’s templates have a reputation for being beautifully designed, but did you know that all their templates are also optimized for mobile viewing?
All Squarespace sites are responsive, which means that they resize for viewing on different devices. The style editor even shows you how your site looks on mobile so that you can make adjustments.
Mobile-friendly websites are important not only to your website visitors, but also to your SEO.
4 - Security
If you’ve been following my blog or my Instagram account, you probably know by now that internet security is important to me.
I’m always very careful when designing a WordPress website as I know themes, plugins and widgets can be designed by anyone. An outdated plugin can leave you vulnerable and some can have even have harmful code.
With Squarespace everything is managed internally, and built with security in mind, so there are less chances of these loopholes or security vulnerabilities. Squarespace also manages security on your site, checking for malware and making sure everything is updated on the backend. And if there is a there is a security issue, Squarespace’s experts will fix it.
5 - 24/7 support
Got a question? Squarespace’s award winning support team is available to answer 24/7. There’s also a fantastic user forum, as well as an extensive knowledge base filled with articles and video tutorials.
6 - Great SEO features
Squarespace makes search engine optimization or SEO simple and straightforward with its great built in features. These include an SEO tab for every page and blog post, to let you add meta titles and descriptions, alt text for images, mobile responsiveness and SSL security.
A sitemap is also automatically created for your site, which can be submitted to Google or Bing. This gives the search engines a quick way to better understand your website.
7 - Squarespace is always updating and innovating
As small business owners we have enough things to worry about and juggle, so it’s nice to know that the backend of our websites isn’t one of them. Squarespace has teams of people constantly working on updates & fixing bugs, like little internet elves.
In addition to keeping things working, Squarespace is always coming up with great new features and integrations, as well as working to make the back end even better.
We’ve already seen some new features in the past few months. If you work with a Squarespace Circle member (like me) on your site you may even get a sneak peek at more, as we often beta test new features to make sure they’re working perfectly before they’re released to everyone.
My goal is to take the worry out of the website process and make it as easy as possible for my clients. That’s why I use Squarespace for them – and for me.
