Reuse your favourite layouts on any page with Saved Sections

You’ve spent hours getting that section to look just perfect. Adjusted the section settings. Moved around your text and images. Or maybe you’ve used an auto layout with its many settings.

And now you’d like to reuse that same layout on another page.

Until recently, your only option would be to duplicate the whole page. This works if you’re making a new page, but what if you want to add it on an existing page?

Now you can easily copy and reuse that section using the Saved Section feature in Squarespace 7.1.

Step 1: Save the section you want to reuse

1.      Click Edit in the top left hand corner of your website

2.      Scroll to the section you want to duplicate and hover over it

3.      Click the heart shaped icon in the section settings

*A confirmation message will appear at the bottom of the screen to let you know that your section has been saved.

Step 2: Insert your Saved Section

Are you ready to use your new saved section? Here’s how to do it.

1.      Go to the page that you want to place your new section

2.      Click Edit in the top left hand corner of your website

3.      Hover over the area you want to add your new section and click Add Section

4.      In the Sections pop-up select Saved Sections

choose saved sections in add section pop-op

5.      Click on the saved layout that you want to add in to your page

6. Your Saved Section will appear on your page and you can begin editing

Which sections can be saved?

You can save up to 50 Fluid Engine sections, List (or auto layout sections), Gallery and Classic Editor sections.

You can’t save footers or sections on collection pages like blogs, events, portfolios or stores. Saved Sections are only available in Squarespace 7.1.

How to delete a Saved Section

Saved Sections work like snapshots in time. They don’t update when you make changes to the original section on your website. So, at some time you may want to delete an old version and save a new one. You can also save multiple versions of a section.

Or, maybe you’ve reached your limit of 50 Saved Sections and you need to make space.

Whatever the reason, here’s how to delete a Saved Section:

1.      Click Edit on any page, then click Add Section

2.      Click Saved Sections

3.      Check the box in the top-left corner of one or more sections
(you may need to hover over the section to get the box)

4.      Click the trash can icon

*Make sure you want to delete this section before you hit the trash can. This cannot be undone.

Saved Sections a feature that many Squarespace designers (including me) are really excited about. It will make both designing and updating websites faster and easier than it has ever been!
